St John’s is within the Diocese of Chichester and is part of the world-wide Anglican family of churches. It is the oldest parish church in Burgess Hill. Situated in the town centre, its distinctive spire is clearly visible from many parts of the town. Since 1863, this holy place, set apart for the worship of God, has been both a beacon of hope and refuge for people in times of trouble and also a place where people have come to celebrate the great moments of joy in their lives. And day by day throughout the years, it has been the place where people have offered worship to God, and have prayed to him for the world, the nation, and the community in all their needs.
Today the people of St John’s carry on that same mission: to extend the loving care of God in Christ to one and all in our part of Burgess Hill. We try to keep the church open as much as possible during the day so that people may come in to find peace and quiet, to light a candle, to offer prayers, or simply to look round. Should you be able to visit our church you will always find a warm welcome there.
Meanwhile, we hope you enjoy your visit to our website and find encouragement here in helping you to respond to God’s love and to accept the invitation Jesus extends to you to follow him day by day.
