The Children’s Church meets during the 10am Sunday service (apart from the first Sunday of each month when the whole congregation participates in a Family Service). We begin with a Gospel reading and then the children divide into age groups:
- Crèche (babies and toddlers)
- Treasure Seekers (4-5 year olds)
- Pearl Divers (6-8 year olds)
- Gold Panners (9 plus)
The crèche children are provided with toys, games and plenty of crayons and paper to keep them happy. The other groups follow a termly programme of teaching the Christian Faith mixed with activities designed to help children understand, celebrate and live their Faith. The teaching material is linked to the appointed Liturgy of the Word for each Sunday and this enables parents and children to talk together about it and for parents to reinforce the teaching back at home as appropriate.
We run a First Communion course for pre-confirmation children based on the Margaret Withers course ‘Welcome to the Lord’s Table’. We also organise annual Advent, Christmas, Easter and Pentecost events; there are group outings to the local pantomimes, zoos and ten pin bowling is a recent addition to our activities.
We have a large and active Youth Group for anyone who is aged 11 and upwards. The Youth Group has monthly social activities alternating between games evenings held in the hall and off-site activities. In the summer we go on a popular camping weekend. Friends are very welcome to all in house activities, regular members can attend off-site activities too.
We look forward to welcoming new families and children to join in the fun and worship
